Possible Kai Ken at LA animal shelter ???

edited April 2016 in General
I was browsing the adopt a pet section on this website, curious to see if there were any NK being housed there. I am no expert by any means, and still new to NK breeds. I do see a resemblance to a Kai Ken in the head, ears, and brindling on the face . This made me question if she is a Kai although obviously very rare in the states. Thought someone might be interested enough to either identify or look further into it. I know a lot of people have a soft spot for finding good homes for dogs on here. Doesn't list height but weight seems possible. Sorry to waste your time if not. It intrigued me enough to post it.

  • I'd say it's not a KK. The eyes aren't the standard shape and colour and the snout is longer than what I'd expect.
  • Maybe brindled jindo? @Ayk, what say you?
  • @CrimsonO2

I think that would definitely be more of a possibility.
  • First impression based on the picture is not a Jindo.
  • Seems really big for a Kai Ken. 44 pounds is huge for a Kai and massive for a female. My male Shikoku is around 45.

But she looks so nervous in her picture. :( I hope someone springs her soon.
  • I was also thinking Jindo mix.
  • I passed this shelter listing to Two Dog Farms Jindo Rescue.
  • Kahlula was visited by a Two Dog Farms volunteer. Here is an image.

The rest of the pics and a report are on their FB page:
  • Nice! Good lookin out
  • Looking closely at the pics on FB her face shape and expression is similar to that of an Australian cattle dog... Couldn't really guess the rest of the mix though. Very pretty and unique looking regardless of her heritage. :)
