  • Yes, the pups are really cute. I just love how each dog has its own personality and how they interact as a pack. Tora is definitely a ham. I put him and Chibi in their new back packs today and headed out for a hike. Here's a short clip of their…

  • I thank everyone for their nice comments and support. I am not a frequent visitor to the forum so I apologize for not thinking more on a global scale. I would welcome ALL Shikoku owners to participate. That would be awesome to have as many owners …
  • I put Shuii through a couple levels of obedience and agility classes. Although we didn't compete, Shuii really loved it. It really helps an owner to bond with their dog. Working through this type of training builds trust and respect.
  • This was a fun litter to raise. Not only do they have nice structure, they all have great personalities too!
  • Everyone is asked to use the site to enter their own info Thanks!
  • Cho Cho ( butterfly) looks great! She is a super nice puppy. Nice to see the little woodchuck chucking some wood : )
  • Hi Thanks for the link! I look forward to meeting them at the show.
  • Sorry...I meant to ask if "anyone" is attending the show. I look forward to meeting some more Nihon Ken people.
  • The Shikoku dogs that I sled with  are Suki & Aki.  We have a joke:  Dinner and a sleighride with Sukiyaki.  They seem to enjoy their new "job." Loved the pics of your snowdogs in NM! Today it's freezing cold  and the thought of…
  • I received info from Kai Ken Preservation Society in Japan regarding the tan/blonde colored Kai Ken.  This color is not accepted in their standard nor do they do not use pale colored dogs in show or breeding.  Other standards (UKC, FCI, ARBA) state …
  • Happy New Year to all.  We went for a hike with the pups this morning. Bob took a photo of us in the snowstorm which I thought looks really cool cuz the snowflakes appear as orbs of light. It was snowing pretty good and the wind is howling.  Even so…
  • Thanks for the nice comments.  I have a lot of funtrying to take their photos.  It's tricky because they don't like to sit still. And they are always kissing each other.  I'll have to post some clips of my french kissing Japanese dogs. Shuii is a…
  • The Shikoku in my photos are Maya (little one)and Suki(the larger).  These two haven't been allowed to attack prey.  I make them "leave it".  My Kai has caught squirrel, but will release on command.  I have a Shikoku female, Sweety, don't …
  • Hello,  My name is Peggy.  I reside in NE Ohio with my wonderful hubby, Bob, and 3 beautiful daughters (poor Bob) and an 8 pack of Nihonken, a pair of Inuit huskies, and Kikko-the-bad-dog...and various doggie visitors...I also dog sit in my home.  D…
  • Sorry,  I'm not so good at adding in photos.   Here's another attempt at posting some hunting photos...(Image) Learning to hunt   Tracking prey   (Image)  What's in the hole?     Got trout? (Image)
  • (Image) Hi there, I'm trying my hand at adding in some pics for your viewing enjoyment, so please bear with me. I took some photos of my Kai girl, Shuii, and her Shikoku sistas, Suki and Maya. (Image)    Kissy, Kissy

  • I take my Shikoku out "hunting" which consists of tracking and flushing game.  I really enjoy watching them do their thing.  Usually they flush out turkey and grouse.  Love to chase those chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits!  They have run ac…
  • I haven't been on the forum in a while.  Love the photos. It's so wonderful to see other Shikoku dogs. Congrats on your new addition.  What a handsome Shikoku pup!  Best of luck with everything.
  • Thanks for everyone's support!  It was originally my intention to create a club that is open to anyone who is interested in the protection and preservation of the Shikoku dog  (ownership of the breed is not required).  Also because of the breed's UK…
