Meitou went to the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire (Aug. 8th)
Bonney Lake, WA~
Meitou did really well even though the Faire was pretty busy. He was also super popular ("Oh! That dog looks awesome!" or "That dog is so cute!"). I had to tell a lot of people that no, they could not pet my dog. One father brought his tiny baby close and I told him "no pets" and then as soon as my back was turned he put his baby down in Meitou's face and put the baby's hand right out to Meitou. I looked down just then to see Meitou licking a baby hand, but oh my gosh it freaked me out.
I bought fairy wings for Meitou and he wore them the entire time. When I first tried them on him I put them on upside down. Whoops. I fixed it after I bought them.
Meitou did not want to be too close to the jousting. But for some reason he really thought he could go in the "staff only" area nearby.
This fairy liked Meitou a lot.
Meitou wanted to say hi to the unicorn. Or at least he thought he did.
I heard someone say "Oooh! Look at the dog getting it's picture taken with the skeleton!"
Around this point I met a woman who told me she had a Shiba and wanted to get a Kai. She told me Meitou was the first Hokkaido she had met in person.
I bought a cool necklace and made Meitou model it once we got home. I should have made him wear it at the actual Faire, lol.

And that evening, near home, my sister and I saw this:
It was way prettier in person. It looked like a 4 layered rainbow and then it grew kind of a reverse rainbow cloud behind it.

@WrylyBrindle Yeah, I'm glad he doesn't have issues with big crowds or random costumes so I can still take him fun places that might be a bit busy.
@laurenmarie He gets super weird about strangers petting him. He does not like it at all or want it. He'll dance away and duck his head out of the way and it pretty escalates into very angry barking so a lot of people who don't listen to me when I tell them not to pet him, or don't believe me, then get all offended and think he's scary/dangerous. He only likes being pet by people he knows really well and really likes, and that's a pretty small group of people when it comes down it. What about Oni? Is he weird about strangers touching him or is he okay with it?
@TheYeti Yeah, Meitou isn't sure what to think of horses when they are close. When they are far away they're very interesting. He ignored the horses at the Ren Faire. I think he was feeling too hot to be interested and with all the clanging jousting noises I don't think he found it very appealing. hahaha, now the camel that was nearby was a different story. Meitou thought the camel smelled super interesting, hahaha.
I think our boys are a lot alike! Especially with the vet visits, I am curious to see how the training works for you!
Anyway, hopefully I'll have some new photos of Meitou up soon, mostly consisting of things I make him wear for funny photoshoots.
