At what age should Hilo's ears stand up?

They are showing signs of lift, but they are still down... I had heard that they should be up by 4 months. Any thoughts?

They should be almost fully up by now. You may need to have them taped.

hmmm - that sux. I read that it's a slower process for larger boned dogs. Have you heard that?

I know it is a little slower for the Akita they say a Shiba. There is a wives tale that the ears take longer to come up on the better dogs :) Taping isn't that big of a deal though.

Well that sounds promising. I just noticed tonight his left ear is starting to stand up. :c)

BTW Brad, I used to live in the Bay Area - I grew up in Atherton. I miss it.

    Brad,

Some come up at 4 mos, others not until 5-5.5 months.

Start using squeaky toys above his head as 'exercise.'

    Don't worry. They'll come up.

Hmmmm, I will try that... Didn't think about exercise helping, I figured it was just a calcium thing.

    Cool!

Just don't get too concerned if one pops up and the other doesn't. Another common ear thing is that at 5-6 months, one might start to droop again. By 6.5 months, they'll both be up.
