Japanese spitz anyone?

edited March 2013 in Other Breeds
Now, i know by nihon ken we are talkin shiba, kai, hokka, shikoku, kishu and akita but i was wondering if any of you have ever met a japanese spitz. I came across them in this big dog breed book, and being a spitz lover i kinda floofed over them a bit. Anyways, just wondering if anyone had actually met one and knows what they are like.

  • I see them around sometimes. I don't believe they are actually Japanese dogs though. Kind of a Spitz mix created in Japan. They are....fluffy??

Japanese spitzs are really popular here in Finland.
  • I've met a couple in Taiwan... shaved way down, because it's unconscionable to keep them long-coated in subtropical summers! To be honest, I don't find them appreciably different from American Eskimo Dogs. Both are adorable to me, and have friendly, alert faces, though possibly sharp with stranger dogs. I had considered one for a while, until I read about dog owners having to pluck dingleberries from their older or less, ah, fastidious dogs' hind ends...
