Dear all, I just wanted to let you know that if you (or anyone you know) wants an Akita, there are several available on Craigslist. There is some that aren't even neutered...I hope he doesn't fall into the hands of a BYB.

I hope some of these dogs are able to find homes! here's a thought, too, re: rescue. On the Shiba side, we have a thread called Shibas on craig's list, and people list the Shibas they see in that thread. It's pretty handy because it's all in one place. We might be able to have a Akitas in need thread here too, where they are all listed in one place, so it's easy to find?

Also, it might be useful to suggest the names of Akita rescue to the Craig'sList people. It's another idea I got from the Shiba side.

I have a pure bred, female, Akita that is going to be 2 years old next month. She is a very good dog. She is friendly. She is good with other large dogs. She has been an outside dog. I am asking $150 for her to a good home. She has not been spayed and will need her rabies shot.

Someone should email that last one telling them to contact their breeder. They said he's from show lines and was going to be shown, so I think the breeder might like to know if the dog is being given away, etc.
