Just read through this blog post and started wondering about Orijen.

Just wanted to ask the dog food gurus here about this and if it's a cause for concern.

  • Honestly, I had to switch to kibble for financial reasons last month (with Miko and Ruby being allergic to chicken and grain and Jay and I being wusses about preparing our own raw our dog food budget was hitting $500 a month). We feed Orijen. I asked my holistic vet what kibble she would do if she had a gun to her head. It was the only brand she would recommend. Actually she also okay-ed Before Grain, but they use eggs and Ruby is also allergic to eggs and they use eggs. The way I see it, if we scrutinize the nutritional break down of any food homemade, kibble, or otherwise there will be something. I agree that there verbiage on some things is kind of ridiculous, but marketing teams are generally pretty ridiculous. But all in all it is a better food than many on the market.
