The 1st reminds me of a snowy owl. He is pretty sitting like that.

WOW. Maui pix! So rare to see him on camera. Those are beautiful pix. I especially like that he's squinting. Gives him more personality in 2D.

The little guy is handsome with his posing face :-)
It's incredible how he keeps himself so thin.

I like the second one. Nice lighting, nice cloud reflection in the window. Maui is a cute boy.

Maui is so adorable. I love his little face.

How much does Maui weigh? Pictures of shiba's are always so deceiving.

    he's a handsome guy

He looks so content in those. Did you make that perch specifically for him?

    Very handsome!

Kristin - Maui is pretty thin, he eats like a super model. Last time we weighed him he was 14lb. The dog has had more [medical] tests done on him to see why he doesn't eat and why his skin is so dark... but we never find anything. I think he is just strange. lol.

Dave - Yep, that is his "safe place" outside. When he freaks out and gets all zoomie crazy on us he will retreat to that spot to escape the other pups [they like to chase him, and he likes them to chase him - until he wants them to stop]. The only other pups that go up there are Loa and Kona, and they are very gentle with Maui so he is ok with them. It's kinda like his "base".

14lbs! Wow that is small. Sake just weighed it at 16.6!

He does look rather content on his perch. :)

I really like the first picture. You caught his expression just right. Were you using your 50mm or your zoom?

oops, Jen just corrected me, he is 16lb.

I was using my 70-300 @ 70mm - that lens is perfect for catching the dogs unexpected. I LOVE my 50mm, but it is hard to use w/ the dogs since they move around so much.

I love Maui. She was so sweet when we met her in December.
    I love the first picture.

Maui Maui Maui! He is the sweetest Shiba! You know what I noticed...Maui and Ninja look very similiar is build. Since they are both skinny and not very fluffy - it really makes their upper body look buff! I think we should introduce Ninja and Maui - they would probably be best friends and talk about all their issues - HA!

whoops...of course I know that Maui is a boy. Sorry Maui.

No worries, he is a very feminine boy anyway. lol.

Romi, that would either go really well or horribly bad. I'm willing to give it a try. LOL!

Bit late, but those pictures are just adorable, you can almost see him smiling

"Feminine boy", I like that description much better than hearing "bitchy dog", it doesn't make him sound all mean and nasty that way.

Maui is adorable! I love the first pic of him --- looks very regal and satisfied with himself! Thanks for sharing!

    why "mr taco"?
  • edited November -1
We used to eat a restaurant called "Maui Taco" - I think they all closed... but early on in Maui's life, because of that restaurant, we started calling him "Taco", or "Mr. Taco".

That's funny. You know "taco (tako)" in Japanese is Octopus!
